The Kaikolans are a large caste of Tamil weavers found in all the southern districts."A Weaving and Textile caste dominating in below Tamil districts in Erode, Tirour, Coimbatore, Karur, Naamakal, Salem, Dahrmapuri, Krishnagiri. The name Kaikolan is further derived from Kai (hand) and kol (shuttle). The Kaikolans consider the different parts of the Loom to represent various Devathas and Rishis.
The Agamudaiyans, Mr. W. Francis writes, "A cultivating caste dominating in below Tamil districts in Chengalpattu, NorthArcot, Erode, Kanijivaram, Krishnagiri, Salem, It is noted in the Tanjore Manual that Agamudayar (the equivalent of Agamudaiyan) is derived from the 'root' 'aham' which in Tamil has many significations. In one of these it means a house, in another earth, and hence it has two meanings, householder and landholder the suffix Udaiyar indicating ownership.
The Vellalas, "Mr. H.A. Staurt writes, "are the great farmer caste of the Tamil country, and they are strongly represented in every Tamil district. The word Vellalan is derived from 'Vellanmai' (vellam-water, anma-Management) meaning cultivation. They formed the nobility, or the landed Aristocracy of the VIcountry. The Chera, Chola and Pandian kings, and most of the Petty chiefs of Tamilakam, belonged to the tribe of Vellalas. Assuming our community has 153 sub faces with in the community, so far we have recognised 50 sub faces only. Our community had its strong presence in Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukotai, Theni, Thanjore, Thrichy, Virudhu Nagar, Thirvavyur, Thirunallevalli, Shivagangai.
In South India every village, Taluk and District was governed by our community in the past (Like Munchief, karnam, Revenue Administrators...)
Our communities eminent people had strong Devotional background.
Only Our community was the option to maintain all temples in olden days. That is the reason why Atheenams came into the picture because we were trust worthy, loyal and had strong administrative skills.
British people identified them for their Administration requirements and proposed our community people to be Ministers, Divans, Warriors and Raobahadurs in those days.
Our community people are recognised in 16 Nayanmars (saints) of Saiva religion out of 63 Nayanmars and three Alwars in Vaishnava Religion.
We played a key role to introduce Literature stage shows, Cinema industry, art Development, Freedom Fighters, Poetry and trusts in India.
We are the first people to formulate Education system in South India.
Our community people are "Born to lead and Born to win".
Maximum number of trusts in Tamilnadu were held by our community people.
Most iconic faces in Tamilnadu belong to our Community.
